PRESENTATION TITLE: “An examination of cross-border dynamic tourism net”

The cross-border region of Ciudad Juarez–El Paso constitutes a stage of complex interdependence for the development of a common destination and for this, the network is the option to follow for its quality of collaboration instead of competition.

There exists a low level of cross border communication and collaboration between private and public stakeholders, as a result of the tensions of the USA’s international policy.

Therefore the attractions of the region and their potential for proper development have been ignored or not developed.

Both stakeholders, public and private, are little sensitized to the tourism environment and potential.

The serious problems of violence in Ciudad Juarez affect the image of the area and the capacity of the stakeholders of championing the potential benefits of tourism and cross-border destination development.

The existing cross-border ties between tourism stakeholders are characterized as of low commitment, motivated by the frequent insertions of high level ‘Human Resources’ in ELP, in contrast with the normally consistent bond among the stakeholders in CJ.
