Summit on Peace through Tourism

Institute for Peace through Tourism, I am honored to invite your participation
in the Global Summit On Peace through Tourism, November 8-11, 2000
in Amman, Jordan.
Majesty King Abdullah II is Honorary Patron of the Summit
and American Express the Title Sponosor.
The Summit, which pays tribute to His Majesty King Husseins legacy
of peace, will be a demonstration of support by the worlds largest industry
for a continuation of the peace process in the Middle East and other regions of
the world. Participants will include
travel and tourism industry leaders, ministers of tourism, senior academics, policy
makers and opinion leaders from around the world.
Theme of the Summit is Building A Culture of Peace Through
Tourism in support of the UN International Year for the Culture of Peace. Objectives include:
Launching of projects and programs that contribute to the vision of
Tourism as a Global Peace Industry
* Formation of a Coalition
of Partners for World Peace through Tourism
* Drafting of a 21st
Century Agenda for Peace through Tourism
* Generating global awareness to
the social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits of tourism and its potential
to contribute to a climate of peace.

Hussein Scholarship Awards
are awarding a US$1,000 scholarship for the university student in each of 5 regions
of the world who writes the best paper on "Building A Culture of Peace through
Tourism". The paper should be approximately 1500 words in length and should
be submitted no later than 10 October, to one of the following Coordinators:

International Student Forum
international student forum will be held in connection with the Summit. Participating students are also invited
as delegates to the Global Summit. As
space for students is limited, priority will be given to students nominated by
the Dean of their Department. Students
will be able to register for a special fee of US$ 75 with proof of student status.
We have reserved a limited number of rooms for students (with special
rates) at the Ammon Hotel, a student operated hotel in cooperation with Ammon
Global Educators Network
are in the process of forming a Global Educators Network for Peace though
Tourism. First meeting of the network will be held at the Summit in Amman,
Wednesday morning November 8. We
welcome your participation and membership.

Promotion of the Summit
